And a funny recap of what a holiday looks like with her:

Want to see more? Take a look at the beautiful Club Med Finolhu Villas

Multiverse; Fusions by Club Med. Testimonial by Kiara King at Club Med Finolhu

Kiara King, Art Director and owner of lifestyle blog Lion In The Wild, chose the Maldives to spend a memorable pre-wedding trip with her soon-to-be-husband. While staying at Club Med Finolhu Villas, Kiara experienced the first Club Med Fusions event; Multiverse, mixing food, light and sound during a magical evening ✨

We chatted to Kiara to find out about her experience…

Hi Kiara, it looks like you had an incredible time in Club Med Finolhu! What were the highlights?

Well, put simply, you cannot beat waking up to the view of the ocean, can you? The Overwater Sunrise Villa was by far one of the best accommodations we’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. We could’ve easily spent the entire 5-nights in our villa if not for the beautiful island and amazing inclusive activities.

OverWater Villa

We really loved how social the vibe of Club Med Finolhu was, especially after the sunset at the bar where many guests gather for pre-dinner drinks, including the night of Fusions. What I love is that Finolhu caters to what you want whether you want to be social and meet other guests or enjoy a private experience. Overall, Finolhu seems more intimate and relaxed than many other resorts.

Sounds like the perfect balance! Can you tell us more about Fusions by Club Med?

Club Med Fusions was what brought us to the beautiful Club Med Finolhu Villas in the middle of the Indian Ocean, and we’re sure glad it did. In its essence, Fusions is a collaboration of senses and, on this particular inaugural Fusions event, we were delighted by the partnership of Michelin Chef Jozef Youssef and award-winning composer-pianist Tze Toh. As we experienced umami flavours across three key elements – water, fire and air – the evening was further enhanced not just by the storytelling, light show and wonderful company, but also the music that elevated our senses and enhanced the flavours of each course. It truly was a multi-sensory night of enchantment, indulgence and connection.

Fsions collage.jpg

Wow! A very unique experience. What was your favourite part?

I will always remember the burst of emotions I felt as we were sitting at our table with the chefs working meticulously in front of us preparing each course, the theatrical light that moved above us, the storytelling of Chef Youssef and the beautiful music of composer Toh in the middle of Motu Restaurant, knowing that we’d never experience an event so unique again.

As a self-confessed foodie, we thoroughly enjoyed the eight-course gourmet menu that shaped our evening. My favourite dish? Without a doubt, the tuna tataki paired with watermelon and pineapple. It was simply a heavenly combination, which seemed to be the theme of the night.

Fusions food.jpg

What would you like to see at the next Fusions by Club Med?

The Maldives is simply one of the most beautiful places on Earth, so I can only imagine how amazing it would be to have a Club Med Fusions event that celebrates the beauty of nature; sea and land, flora and fauna. It could perhaps incorporate film, touch, sound and light to enhance the emotions of the event and educate guests in an exciting way about the island and the Maldives.

Apart from Fusions, what are the Top 5 things you experienced in the Maldives?

1.      Explore Club Med Finolhu. What do you do when you find yourself on a private tropical island? Explore it, of course! If you manage to pull yourself away from your own luxurious villa (it’s worth it, I promise!), you’ll discover the huge resort pool and bar, palm tree-lined walkways, Insta-worthy ocean swings, secret hammocks and pristine white beaches. If you get a chance, you should also get the quick speed boat to Club Med Kani.

2.      Enjoy a night to remember at Club Med Fusions. We thoroughly enjoyed our unforgettable evening immersing ourselves in the first Fusions event, which combined our passion for exemplary cuisine and beautiful music.

3.      Go on the Blue Lagoon Cruise. Wow, wow, wow! I believe that is the best way to describe our experience on the Blue Lagoon Tour as we discovered a tiny sand island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, snorkelled with lots of colourful fish and met friendly locals on a residential Maldivian island. Needless to say, it was so much fun!

Reef sharks.JPG

4.      Swim with the friendly sharks and stingrays. One of the most incredible experiences we had was swimming with the reef sharks, stingrays and fish around our very own overwater villa. While they were very shy and rarely approached us, it was one of the most magical moments I’ve ever had. We also swam with a sea turtles on one of the inclusive snorkelling trips we went on too. Pinch me!

5.      Relax, relax, relax. There’s no better place to chill out than by your private pool overlooking the sparkling turquoise lagoon, immersing yourself in the natural beauty of Finolhu. Order room service, grab a book and rejuvenate in your very own paradise.

Sounds like the trip of a lifetime! What makes the Maldives stand out from other dream destinations?

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to travel to some truly beautiful destinations, but the Maldives tops the list for me with its clear turquoise waters, rich marine life and tropical islands. The all-inclusive delicious meals, free-flowing champagne, incredibly friendly staff (it was such a pleasure to get to know everyone!), fun activities and luxury of Club Med Finolhu are not to be missed. I mean, we’re already dreaming of our next visit! It truly is paradise.

And finally, any packing tips for anyone heading to the Maldives on their own amazing holiday?

Since you’re going to be spending your time by the water, make sure you fill your suitcase with plenty of swimsuits and beach cover-ups. For the evenings by the bar, take up the opportunity to have a little fun and pack a daring yet lightweight dress or jumpsuit. And don’t forget sunscreen…SPF50+ is my choice! Footwear, optional.

Club Med to Open First Resort in the Seychelles

seychellesheader.jpg

Club Med is proud to announce its continued international expansion with the opening Club Med’s first resort in the Seychelles, due to open in 2020. This announcement follows recent news of three more new Club Med destinations– Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Canada/Québec, all to open within the next four years. The new 5 Trident Exclusive Collection Resort on Sainte-Anne Island in the Seychelles archipelago will be open all year round to offer families and active couples an exceptional destination at the heart of the Sainte-Anne Marine National Park.

Just 30 minutes from Mahé International Airport, the new resort will boast 295 rooms – from Club to Suite – and offer its family guests the full range of childcare facilities – from Petit Club (2 – 3 years old) to Junior’s Club (11 – 17 years old).

Seamlessly integrated into its natural environment between tropical gardens, the Indian Ocean and bordered by three white sandy beaches, Club Med Seychelles will offer couples and families an exceptional natural setting and a diverse palette of onshore and offshore sports, including diving, snorkelling, sailing, tennis, flying trapeze and archery.

On the announcement, Henri Giscard d'Estaing, President of Club Med says, “I’m particularly happy to see Club Med secure a base in the Seychelles, one of the three most luxurious destinations, alongside the Maldives and Mauritius. In association with New Mauritius Hotels, our prestigious partner and respected luxury hotel operator, we will be able to offer our guests a new premium destination that fulfils all their expectations from 2020 onwards.”

SCSHOT1Daa12.jpg

A major project for Club Med and the Seychelles

The opening of this future Club Med is an integral part of the group’s commitment to open three to five resorts worldwide every year between now and 2020.

For this new project, Club Med is working alongside NMH (New Mauritius Hotels), the largest and longest-established hotel group in Mauritius, where it operates all the Beachcomber hotels on the island.

Beachcomber Hotels also operates the Beachcomber Seychelles Sainte Anne Resort and Spa hotel, which currently has 87 rooms. Club Med’s proposal to take over the hotel under a new leasing arrangement with NMH will see the capacity of the hotel infrastructure significantly expanded.

The opening of the new Club Med Resort will represent a total investment of around €70 million (approximately $109,410,000AUD) for NMH – an investment that will boost its capacity to around 300 rooms, and make a valuable contribution to local economic development through the creation of several hundred direct jobs and an equal number of indirect jobs.

Luxury Travel in the Maldives by Eryn Krouse

Luxury Travel in the Maldives

After nine days of all-inclusive gourmet food and drinks, staying in two different overwater villa suites, having a personal boat to go to epic surf, and a whole lot of rest and relaxation, you can bet I got a taste of the good life.

Here is what a luxury surf trip in the Maldives looks like.

After a disorienting period of time where I reached the point where I felt as if I had spent my entire life confined to the cramped insides of an airplane, I finally began to spot the infamous atolls that make up the Maldives out the window. Bright, circular, marble-looking blobs surrounded by rings of different shades of blue that looked more like giant eyeballs than little islands, just floating on the surface of the Earth. I touch down on Malé and hear the pilot say, “Welcome to the Maldives”. Finally, I made it to paradise.

CLUB MED KANI

So, picture this. You wake up on a king-size canopy bed with the sunrise peeking through white curtains lightly blowing from the sea breeze. You climb out of bed and step out on to the deck to admire the vibrant blue sheen of the water below you. You might even see a school of fish, or an occasional ray or reef shark swim by. The water looks inviting, so you jump in. Taking a few strokes before turning over on to your back to float, you close your eyes and relax. You hear your significant other calling out your name to let you know that room service has arrived, so you swim back to your dock, rinse off in the outdoor shower, and don a robe from the bathroom. A server is carrying two trays of breakfast items, and he asks you, “Where would you like to eat your breakfast today?” to which you respond “On the front deck, please”. You take a seat outside and uncover the lids to reveal plates of fresh croissants, steaming eggs, crisp bacon, maybe even some warm crepes, and it all smells so good that your mouth waters in anticipation as you pour yourself a hot cup of coffee…

It’s 7:30 am and the day has just begun.

summersite_maldives_sept18__0011946.JPG

Every day in the Maldives brought a new adventure. With the sun out, the water would shine as a bright, turquoise blue, and I’d eagerly admire the view as I waxed up my board. I’d walk the path from the overwater villa down to the dock with my surfboard in one hand, and my boyfriend’s hand in the other. Once in the boat, we’d speed away into the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. It was a common sight to see spotted, lone manta rays cruising by, or a pod of jumping dolphins. Every moment was a different adventure out at sea.

Surfing in the Maldives is a magical experience. The water is so clear that you can see fish swimming under you as you ride a wave of almost transparent looking water. It’s pure stoke. For a complete guide on surfing in the Maldives, click here.

summersite_maldives_sept18__0008049.JPG

Salty, happy, and surfed out, I take a moment to soak in the sun. It feels so good to lay on the sand, feeling the warm rays on my skin while listening to the soft lapping of the waves onto the coquina shore. I close my eyes in absolute contentment, the kind of content I get only after spending blissful hours in the ocean.  This stretch of beach is quiet. The only visible signs of life are the little sand crabs bustling around, bumping into each other.

Photo Sep 28, 10 32 19 PM.jpg

Back at the villa… my body is sore and a bit sunburnt from surfing all morning. I run the water in the tub for an afternoon of rest and relaxation. On the walk back from the beach, I picked plumeria and hibiscus flowers to put in the bath to create a personal spa in the privacy of my villa. To really pamper myself, I open my brand new products from Malie Organics, including a plumeria scented body scrub and body polish moisturizer… the ultimate pampering experience.

CLUB MED FINOLHU

After spending a week at Club Med KaniClub Med Finolhu was just a short boat hop away; a continuation of our experience of luxury travel. Our new overwater villa was equipped with a personal pool, an outdoor shower and spa-inspired bath tub, a butler, and a chauffeur to take us to the various all-inclusive restaurants and amenities located at the resort.

Photo Sep 11, 11 44 27 AM - Copy.jpg

Tea time at Club Med Finolhu is an event in itself. Originally established in England in the 1800s by aristocratic British society, the concept of afternoon tea is the very embodiment of comforting luxury, every detail from the china to the atmosphere to the finger food, all adding to the overall experience of mid-afternoon pleasantry.

Wrapped up in soft, white robes, my boyfriend and I sat on the couch in the front room; floor-length doors opened up to the outside deck and the expanse of crystal blue ocean, smooth jazz softly playing through the speakers. Tropical rain quietly fell outside as our butler brought in a selection of Ceylon tea, specially packed in nearby Sri Lanka. Names such as Darjeeling Black, English Breakfast and Moroccan Mint labeled the cloth tea bags, all neatly stacked together in a wooden box. I chose English Breakfast, my personal favorite tea, and Michael chose Darjeeling black, carefully stirring in sugar crystals and organic milk until the tea was a rich, chocolate brown liquid. Bringing the cup of tea up to my mouth, a warm sensation runs through my body as the deep aroma slowly creeps up my nose, traceable hints of spices of the orient. The tea serves as a palette cleanser; the perfect balance of sweet and savory to go with the finger sandwiches, cookies, and tropical fruits.

One could argue that tea is just tea, but there is something special when it transforms into a whole experience; the feeling of being in your own world with no land for as far as you can see; just a muted turquoise ocean blending into the soft grey of the rainy sky. It became an emotional experience that transported me into a state of euphoria that comes only when I feel completely free, without a worry in the world.

It’s amazing the power tea can have, isn’t it? (;

Zoe And Benji Marshall's Top Tips For A Couple Getaway In The Maldives

Blog-post-z-b.jpg

Recently, rugby league legend Benji Marshall, and his wife Zoe Marshall (@zoebmarshall) escaped for a romantic getaway in the Maldives. Together, the couple discovered paradise at Club Med Kani and Club Med FinolhuWe asked Zoe some questions about her experience and her best tips for a seamless trip to the Maldives.

Note: All images below are courtesy of Benji and Zoe Marshall, and have been shared with permission.

Why did you choose Club Med Kani and Club Med Finolhu for your holiday?

Benji and I had never been on a Club Med Holiday, let alone to the Maldives, and it has been on my bucket list for years. I had seen friends and even celebrities have the most incredible time and I knew when we found some time off, it was the first place we wanted to go. Kani is all about the Club Med Culture and I wanted to experience that first hand. Finolhu is pure luxury and apart of Club Meds Exclusive range. I wanted to experience the difference between the two.

What are your must-haves when travelling to an island destination like Club Med Kani and Club Med Finolhu?

👙 A Bikini. You can pretty much make do with everything else but you need your Bikini!

📖 I also love a great book…

💑 Oh and my husband... He is a definite "Must have".

19761250_1780056242304456_3154351426746974208_n.jpg

What was your typical day in Club Med Kani?

At Kani we woke up early each morning to catch the sunrise in our room- we ordered breakfast at 7:30am in the Villa and had a glorious time eating and watching the sea life pass our Villa. We then went down to the beach for a few hours, swam, read and would only realise it was lunch when our tummys started rumbling. We would feast at lunch and then head back to our room for a little nap before we would get ready for dinner. We would stop for cocktails and canapés at 7pm each night before our dinner booking.

What about Club Med Finolhu Villas?

In Finolhu the days are almost similar. Early start to catch the sunrise, breakfast in the room and then down to the main pool bar/lounge area. We would swim, paddle board in the ocean and read our books, we popped back to the room for lunch and swam in our own private pool overlooking the water for the rest of the afternoon. We did pop out for the most incredible crepes at the main pool at 4pm.

Dinner was in our room so we dined in our bathrobes, sun kissed and blissful.

What was your highlight from the trip?

I would say watching the sunrise every morning over the most exquisite backdrop your eyes have ever seen. It’s almost too much beauty to take in. Whether you are at Kani or Finolhu it's just as mesmerizing.

Your recommendation for a bucket list to tick off in the Maldives?

There is nowhere in the world like Finolhu. Benji and I have stayed at some of the most exquisite places in the world and Finohlu takes the cake.

Which resort would you recommend for a romantic getaway from the stress of city living?

I would say Finolhu as it's pure luxury but Kani meets your needs if you want romance-staying in the over water Villas are a great option to be away from families and partying.

What is your top tip for enjoying a romantic getaway?

Phones off! Be present with your loved one. These trips don’t come around that often. Soak it all in.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Club Med looks after everything. There are no hidden costs so you feel free to indulge on your holiday. Life is expensive so I think it’s nice to feel looked after and that there's no terrifying bill when you check out.

Planning a Last-Minute Summer Holiday? Here Are The Best Spots to Go.

last-minute-summer-holiday.jpg

Where has the year gone?! There are less than 9 Fridays to go until Christmas (bring it on!), and it’s the time of year when our minds start drifting to dreams of time away with the family or your loved ones. With the average cost of hotels skyrocketing to $500 per night, and Airbnb houses in Bondi reaching $1100 a night over this period, often it’s better to skip the domestic holidays and jetset off on an international adventure.

If you’re dreaming of a last-minute international adventure over the Christmas and New Year break, we’ve put together a list of holidays that are still available – and that won’t break the bank.

Take the whole family to beautiful Indonesia

As one of Australia’s favourite holiday destinations, Indonesia is the perfect blend of sun, sand, sea, and culture. Accessible via direct flight from Australia’s capital cities, Bali and Bintan Island are perfect for short Christmas breaks that’ll give you maximum R&R for your precious annual leave.

BALC_G218_024.jpg

If you’re heading to Bali, make sure to check out a traditional Balinese dance, learn Bahasa, and hit the surf breaks in Nusa Dua. A trip to Kintamani and the Temple of Tanah Lot are also must-sees. Meanwhile, avid golfers will be in heaven at Bintan Island, while yogis and health enthusiasts will fall in love with the beautiful beach, spa, fresh produce, and juice bar.

RBIC_H116_016.JPG

Cool down with skiing in China

If you ever want a story to tell and to be ahead of the curve, go and ski in China! An up-and-coming ski destination, China will host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games – and the country is definitely gearing up to grow the local ski scene.

BEIC_A117_092.jpg

Ski resorts like Yabuli have been graced by the likes of Shaun White – plus you can head to the neighbouring city of Harbin and tick the Ice and Snow Festival off your bucket list. Alternatively, China’s latest ski resorts, including Club Med Beidahu, are ideal for skiing in January, with runs that snake through forests.

All You Need to Know About Holidays in Cancun

DSC6480-cop12y1.jpg

With its picture-perfect white-sand beaches, vibrant dining and nightlife scene, and proximity to fascinating cultural sites, Cancun is a delightful Mexican holiday destination.  Perhaps best-known for hosting spring break festivities, Cancun has much more to offer if you scratch the surface. Here's everything you need to know to plan your Cancun holiday…

Best time to go to Cancun

December-April are the peak months with clear skies and balmy temperatures, while May-August offers hotter temperatures and fewer crowds. If you're not a hard-partying student, it's best to avoid mid-March to early April – that's when spring break is in full swing.

How to get to Cancun

Cancun is around 20 hours flight time from Sydney. You can fly from all major airports in Australia to Los Angeles flying Virgin Australia, with connections to Cancun flying with either Virgin America or Delta Airlines.

Visas and Vaccinations

Australians don't require a visa for holidays to Cancun. However, if you are traveling via USA, you will need an ESTA visa. And while it's not required, it's recommended you check up on your shots: Tetanus and Diphtheria, Hepatitis A and B. It’s important to note that some Club Med Kids Clubs will ask for proof of immunisation for the little ones!

Your guide on what to do and see in Cancun

Explore ancient Mayan sites

  • A day-trip to Chichen Itza is a must-do when you visit Cancun. Amid the pyramids, arcades and columns of the ancient city, Chichen Itza's most notable landmark is El Castilo, a beautiful and imposing 355-step pyramid.

  • Tulum is another popular excursion from Cancun, with a spectacular location overlooking the Carribean Sea. The ancient walled city offers Mayan ruins set above a gorgeous beach.

  • El Ray is home to ancient stone structures and a population of friendly iguanas.

  • Coba is the only site where you can actually still climb the ruins and explore the area on a pushbike.

Discover the exotic Mexican wildlife

  • ☼ A half hour boat ride from Cancun, Isla Mujeres is a tropical island offering a low-key alternative to the mainland. The Isla Mujeres Turtle Farm, charged with repopulating the waters with turtle hatchlings, is a must-visit.

  • Holbox is a sleepy island north of Cancun home to a large population of whale sharks. Swimming with these gentle giants of the ocean is possible from June to August.

  • ☼ The Island of Contoy is a nature reserve home to coral reefs and amazing birdlife. The waters surrounding the island contain whale sharks, tropical fish and manta rays.

  • ☼ For a truly spectacular experience, swim in the natural holes and mysterious rivers of Cenotes.

Have fun with various sports and activities

  • ✔️ With all that turquoise water, it's no surprise watersports are one of the main drawcards in Cancun. Think about choosing an all inclusive resort: Sailing, scuba-diving, and snorkeling are all available with Club Med, for example.

  • ✔️ With their spectacular backdrops, the golf courses of Cancun lure players from all over the world. With courses designed by the likes of Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman, the challenging layouts are sure to delight.

A few tips in "Survival Spanish"

  • Good morning: Buenos días

  • Good afternoon: Buenas tardes

  • Good evening: Buenas noches

  • How are you? ¿Cómo estás?

  • I’m from Australia: Soy de Australia

  • Please: Por favor

  • Thank you: Gracias

A few more helpful tips

  • ✔️ Beware when walking through Cancun's narrow streets! Cars and motorcyles often pass very close to pedestrians.

  • ✔️ Tipping is customary in Cancun: 10-15% at restaurants and one or two dollars per suitcase carried. However, if you’re at Club Med don’t sweat it – everything is included!

The beauty of Cancun represents a once in a lifetime holiday destination. Whether for a honeymoon, a family holiday or an indulgent solo getaway, Cancun is Mexico's ultimate playground.

A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN

In winter we all crave those tropical escapes every year. Somewhere we can relax and take some time away from our hectic schedules whilst basking in the sunshine under those lush green swinging palm trees. But where to go, options are endless. Fiji, Noumea, Vanuatu, Miami, Bali all these places incredible and offer the above, however it’s hard to compete with the place that offers whiter-than-white powder sand and luminous cyan-blue water!

I first came to the Maldives with no idea how different it was to the rest of the world, it’s a place that draws in over a million people a year to it’s tiny, remote and otherwise little-known Indian Ocean paradise. I have fallen so madly in love with this place, it’s drawn me back three times now and as my trip comes to an end I can confidently say, I’ll be back for many years to come. Each time I have visited the Maldives, I’ve left with even greater memories of the islands paradise then before and not only is it because of the islands drop dead beauty, but due to the accommodations and experience we have endured while in this place that represents paradise.

Every resort in the Maldives is it’s own private island, and with over 100 to choose from the only problem is selecting where you want to stay. But let me solve that problem! Welcome to Club Med.

Club Med has two resorts on separate islands, located a short 30min boat ride from Male. Both offering separate options for that “ultimate holiday”.

Club Med Finolhu is Club Med’s luxury Maldives Resort. From a butler that caters discreetly to all your needs to a personal plunge pool and a staircase that descends straight into what feels like your own piece of ocean. Nestled in beautiful natural surroundings, the award-winning [Club Med] Finolhu Villas are an oasis of peace and privacy. I had the opportunity to stay here last year and it was magical ( Read all about it here ) Eager to see if it had changed within a year and eager to be apart of such a resort again we added on a few extra nights. Happy to report, it had changed… the garden’s greener and more mature, the villa’s even more incredible then I remembered and the food was first class along with the service. It truly is an exquisite place.

But I’m getting off track, so as I said earlier Club Med has two resorts in the Maldives, even though I could talk about Finolhu till the cows come home, let me introduce you to an equally fantastic, beautiful and magical place. Now if you’re looking for something that offers a luxury holiday but with different price points, so you can fit within your budget without maxing out the old trusty credit cards. If you enjoy a holiday with the options of constant daily activities and entertainment, then Club Med Kani is for you! Club Med Kani is the island over from Finolhu, only a five-minute speedboat. Club Med Kani offers a Kids Club also, so perfect for families wanting to enjoy a trip together while sneaking in some one on one time occasionally. There’s a good reason why the Club Med Kani Maldives Resort is known as Heaven on Earth. The pristine cyan-blue waters stretch out to the horizon, palm trees sway in the breeze, and there are so many fun ways to enjoy this idyllic scenery. Whether it’s snorkelling with colorful fish, paddling through crystal clear waters, diving, surfing this place offers some of the world’s finest breaks; every day will be a perfect day in the Maldives. Accommodation is also available in the 5 Trident Luxury Space Overwater Suites, for the ultimate indulgence – dive straight from your Suite into the ocean, or have the alpine sand at your doorstep. Life doesn’t get better than this! Oh but it does on this little island. Premium open bar set on the beach offering the most memorizing sunsets. Fresh all day dining that features local and international cuisines available from three restaurants.

Club med Kani offers the opportunity to divulge yourself into the holiday of your dreams for the perfect price, as it’s all-inclusive. Enjoy a holiday rid of stress, drink those cocktails, eat to your hearts content while not being worried of the end bill.

Some activities and the Club Med spa come at an extra cost, but that’s what spoiling yourself is all about, you're on holiday after all. I do recommend a one-hour Balinese massage, at the start of your trip, it left me feeling automatically relaxed, unwound and ready to enjoy my break in paradise.  It will be your match made in heaven just watch the video below to see what I mean.

Best Places To Go For Easter Holidays

BlogHeroPicture6.jpg

Easter can be the perfect time to travel, both to get away from crowds and also get that last hit of sunshine before winter comes. As the weather warms up, it’s not just summer that has us all dreaming of holidays overseas. The Christmas break can be extremely busy for international travel, with thousands of holidaymakers trying to make the most of the holiday season. If you'd rather skip the crowds and rather plan ahead for your Easter holiday break, we’ve got some spots that are perfect for April!

Spring skiing in Europe

VTHC_K114_059.jpg

You’d be amazed at the quality of snow on offer on the European peaks over Easter! April is considered low season, so you’ll avoid the queues and have the pistes all to yourself. At Val Thorens, Europe’s highest ski resort, it still snows well into Easter week, and the ski season often lasts until May.

Alternatively, other ski fields that are perfect over Easter include Les Deux Alpes and Tignes Val Claret, where glaciers keep temperatures relatively low up in the mountain.

Temperatures are warmer in spring, so resist the urge to pack your earmuffs! With days sitting at above 10 degrees Celsius, you might even find it a bit warm on the mountain – especially if you’re working up a sweat. Don’t forget to bring your swimmers too: resorts like Club Med Peisey-Vallandry have outdoor heated pools that are perfect to soak up the spring sun.

Travel Tip: If you’re travelling to Europe to ski, make sure to make the most of it and transit through Paris or Rome. Flowers bloom across the gardens in Paris in springtime, while the masses gather in St Peter’s Square for Easter in Rome.

Head to Malaysia for Easter sunshine

Looking to get that last burst of sunshine before the winter? Malaysia is a great holiday destination – plus, it’s just an 8 hour flight away. Experience a cultural immersion in Kuala Lumpur with Malay, Chinese and Indian influences creating a bustling, vibrant city.

_DSC2469.jpg

For a break from the densely packed cities, don’t miss Cherating Beach’s secluded shores, surrounded by lush Malaysian jungle. April falls between monsoon seasons, so you’re sure to have clear skies and warm waters. If you’re an avid surfer, you’ll find great waves over the Easter period as well.

Travel Tip: One of the best way to make the most of the jungle experience in Cherating Beach over Easter break is to spend a few days at Club Med Cherating and embark with your kids and the specialized staff in a treasure hunt in the surroundings of the resort...

Discover ancient Mayan relics and sunshine in Mexico

CANC_E105_014.jpg

Home to pristine beaches and one of the world’s seven wonders, Cancun is an ideal holiday destination for Easter. It’s always sunny, and you’ll be able to visit the Mayan ruins of the Chichen Itza, as well as snorkel in beautiful clear oceans.

While April is the time for Spring Break, the Yucatan Peninsula (where Club Med Cancun is located) is secluded, so you can enjoy your beach in peace!  What’s more, some of Mexico’s best snorkelling lies in the warm waters just beyond the shores…

Discover paradise on Earth in the Maldives

KANV_L114_007.jpg

Let’s be honest: when isn’t it a good time to visit the Maldives? With unmistakable turquoise waters and magnificent white sands, it’s the ideal holiday destination. In April you can expect perfect bluebird days, where the warm waters see vibrant sea life to flock to the coral reefs. Easter is considered the best time for scuba diving, so take a dip with the reef sharks and manta rays!

A short and sweet escape to Singapore

Singapore is less than eight hours direct flight from Sydney, so it’s perfect for a short Easter break! In April you’ll avoid the monsoons and it’s (a little bit) less humid, making it the perfect conditions to spend a few days exploring Singapore. Enjoy a meal on the Marina Bay, watch the Singapore Open Badminton tournament, spend a day at Universal Studios, or head to the Singapore Zoo…kids and adults alike will love it!

_DSF1474_LR.jpg

Travel Tip: When you’re ready to hit the beach, skip Sentosa and take a short ferry to Bintan Island. Lie under the tropical sun by the warm waters of the South China Sea and relax…snorkel, swim, kayak, or practice your swing at the infamous Ria Bintan Golf Course.

🐇 Happy Easter Holiday! 🐣

All You Need to Know About a Holiday to Mauritius

bintan.jpg

The Indian Ocean island of Mauritius is a tropical paradise, home to ancient volcanoes, lush green forests and a gorgeous coastline dotted with palm-fringed beaches. With a flat ocean for wakeboarders and waterskiers, and some of the most warm-hearted hosts you’ll ever come across, you’l never want to leave. Convinced? Yep, we thought so! Here's everything you need to know to plan your holiday to Mauritius.

Best time to go to Mauritius

ALBC_LUXE_G114_051.jpg

Diving and snorkelling is best from October to March, and from May to October, the surf is top-notch on pristine waters!

If you are really looking for the highest temperatures, you might want to go in December, January or February but keep in mind that it will be rainy season...

How to get to Mauritius

MAUC_B119_013.jpg

It takes about 8 hours to fly from Perth to Mauritius. From Sydney and other Australian cities, you'll need to first catch a domestic flight through to Perth.

From Perth or Singapore, you can fly with Air Mauritius but if by any chance you find yourself in Kuala Lumpur, Air Asia can also provide you a direct flight!

Visas and Vaccinations

Australians don't require a visa for stays up to 3 months in Mauritius, as long as you have the appropriate travel documents and have an onward or return passage ticket.

Before you go, make sure to check up on your routine vaccinations. As with most island nations, your doctor will most likely also recommend Typhoid, Hepatitis, Rabies and Yellow Fever vaccinations. If in doubt, just check in with your GP before heading on holiday.

Your guide on what to do and see in Mauritius

Hit the water

MAUC_D112_081.jpg

☼ Scuba divers from all over the world flock to Mauritius. On the island's south coast, Blue Bay offers ideal conditions for beginners. More experienced divers head to the north and east coasts for reefs, shipwrecks and amazing concentrations of tropical fish.

☼ The north western tip of the island (where Club Med La Pointe aux Canonniers is located) plays host to waterskiing and wakeboarding, thanks to smooth coastal waters formed by a natural lagoon.

☼ Trou aux Biches is family-friendly beach with a reef teeming with marine life – in other words, it’s the perfect spot for avid snorkelers!

☼ Still not wet enough? Tick off an experience on your bucket list and swim with dolphins in Bénitier Lagoon, kitesurf and windsurf at Le Morne, or parasail off Belle Mare.

Fun on dry land

☼ Hiking the island's hilly terrain is popular with the trek to the summit of Le Morne one of the most popular hikes.

Kids and grown-ups alike will love Casela Safari, a 14-hectare nature park home to elephants, rhinos and big cats. The popular Walking with Lions one-hour guided walking tour allows you to get astonishingly close to lions, tigers and cheetahs.

☼ The island boasts some breathtaking golf courses overlooking the sea. Most courses are located within the island's resorts, including near Club Med Albion Villas.

Discover an exotic melting-pot

☼ Port-Louis, that most people know as 'Por Lowee' is Mauritius capital and the first stop you should make on your cultural tour. The diverse cultures of Mauritius can be found everywhere, especially when you gaze over churches, mosques, and Indian temples from the citadel. Most of them are also open to visitors so feel free to step inside, while respecting the local customs!

☼ The Chamarel Village is also a local gem that you must visit. In the midst of the jungle, you will find one of the finest Mauritian Rhum distillery and local coffee plantations. The cherry on the cake? Iconic natural wonders like the Seven Colored Earths or the Chamarel Falls, are also located in this small village of 700.

Must-see local festivals. The Mauritian melting-pot also allows you to enjoy several celebrations, from different religions and influences all year round. If you have the opportunity to be there in November, you will see the Muslim celebration of the Goons, the Hindu's lights for Diwali and the rythmic Festival Kreol to name a few!

What to eat in Mauritius

MAUC_L117_003.jpg

With influences from Africa, France, India and China, the cuisine of Mauritius is a delicious, spice-laden journey of unique flavours. Must-try dishes include:

🍜 Fish Vindaye: fish preserved with spices and served with rice, dhal and pickles.

🍜  Octopus Curry: Mauritian curries differ from their Indian counterparts by including unusual meat and seafoods - octopus is a favourite

🍜  Dholl Puris: the island's national dish of a flatbread topped with yellow split peas.

Before you plan your Mauritius getaway...

A few more helpful tips from locals

✔️  Unlike Oz, Mauritius is pleasingly free of venomous reptiles or dangerous animals. The only things to worry about are a few feisty sea creatures like stonefish – just mind where you are stepping.

✔️  Falling asleep under a coconut tree might be the quintessential tropical paradise activity – but beware, sometimes coconuts fall, and you don't want to be underneath when that happens!

✔️  If you want to take the extended family on a holiday in Mauritius, renting a villa will allow you and your loved ones the chance to soak up the sun for that little bit longer.

Quite simply put, Mauritius equals tropical bliss. Whether for fun and adventure on land or on water, whether you want an adrenaline rush every day, or whether you want to simply lie back and relax in paradise, Mauritius literally has it all.

Nikki Phillips Found Paradise in The Maldives

This article was reposted from bynikkiphillips.com. Read the original story here. Nikki Phillips, model and blogger, relates her memorable couple gateway at Club Med Finolhu Villas with her husband.

I never, ever thought in my wildest dreams I would get the opportunity to visit this beautiful part of the world again.  My husband and I were fortunate enough to travel to the Maldives last year (2014) for our honeymoon, But here we are again and completely pinching ourselves.

We flew Singapore airlines, Sydney to Singapore and then onto the Maldives.

A trip that took 14 hours including a 3 hours stopover. I say this because some people think that the Maldives is miles away, extremely hard to get to and airfares expensive, but it’s actually not and a ticket price tag is around a thousand dollars. On arrival into Male (The capital) it’s a short 20 – 30 min boat ride to Paradise, also know as Club Med Finolhu.

The moment you lay eyes on this piece of paradise you are completely overwhelmed and breathless.

How can something so beautiful exist. The bluest oceans, whitest sands and general perfection is truly breathtaking. As you pull up to the wharf you are greeted by the staff and the general manger offering welcome drinks and extremely large smiles.

Club Med Finolhu officially opened January 31st 2015 and is designed by world renewed architect Yugi Yamakazi and is the first 100% solar run resort in the Maldives. Yup that’s right,  solar panels help electricity, air conditioning and hot water run the entire property.

Making it the ultimate in Eco-luxury resort. It has 52 villas on the entire Island, beach bungalows, sunset and sunrise over water bungalows.

Our villa was a sunset water bungalow and it didn’t disappoint as every morning we were greeted with the most epic sunrise. The beautiful flow of the villa brought the outside in, with doors and windows from the inside leading out onto the ocean. A generous sized living room, bedroom and bathroom and did I mention the outdoor bath!!!!!

Each villa is private and has it’s own luxury plunge pool and a staircase leading from your your own private bungalow directly to the clear blue waters of the ocean, making your hardest decision for the day being…. to pool or sea?

If you require anything for your stay, room service, waters, cocktails, information on activities, you can call your very own personal butler. We had Vikash, who was absolutely lovely and always made us laugh.

For those more active there is a gym, tennis court and yoga available.

You can also go deep sea snorkeling, fishing and jet skiing. We went Jet Skiing and watched a pod of over 50 dolphins dance around us effortlessly, a truly magical moment. A spa is also located on the island for those wanting a more relaxed vacation.

So If I haven’t sold you yet, just wait.

Club Med is known for its ‘All inclusive’ concepts which means the price you pay includes all your food and beverage for your entire stay. Breakfast (unless you want in room ) lunch and dinner is all served in the over water restaurant. This restaurant is a grand building and has a bar with a glass floor, so you can see the colourful sea life beneath while you sip on your chosen cocktail.

At lunch a buffet is served bringing top chefs to prepare fresh seafood, or chosen cultured food. At night it’s an ala carte menu which changes daily.

I could honestly keep writing about this surreal part of the world, but I recommend you just go and visit it for yourself and I highly recommend Club Med Finolhu if you are wanting to spoil yourself in luxury.

A huge thank you to all the staff at Club Med Finolhu and our butler Vikash (that’s him on the left) I hope to one day go back.

A dream trip.

Heard of the magnificent Maldives, but not sure what to expect? No worries! Three media personalities are here to share their all-inclusive Maldives holiday experience with you, straight from in our resorts. Whether on a couples escape or a family vacation, each of their stays was unique and speaks the natural charm of these islands.

Three stories from three Australians...

When Samantha Wills gives something the nod, the rest of the world takes notice. A renowned jewelry designer and Australian icon, Samantha was quick to inform her fans that her experience at Club Med Finolhu Villas, Maldives, “had me lost for words and catching my breath”.

She’s not the only one. Australian newsreader and journalist, Tracey Spicer, took her whole family to Club Med Kani for the holiday of a lifetime and describes the over-water villas as, “fanning across the lagoon like giant palm trees.”

Likewise, Australian/Kiwi model Nikki Phillips was a guest at the Club Med Finolhu Villas, and described her reaction to the tropical paradise as leaving her "completely overwhelmed and breathless".

A perfect couples vacation

For those looking for the ultimate couple’s retreat, like Samantha, or a place to unwind with yoga, great food and endless serenity, like Nikki, the luxurious Club Med Finolhu Villas ticks all the boxes and our guests are only too happy to spread the word.

“One of my favourite things about the villa is the staircase that literally takes you from the back deck into the ocean,” says Samantha. Along with every guest at Club Med Finolhu Villas, Samantha and her partner were provided with their own villa host, for the ultimate tailor-made service.

The solar-powered villas are the last word in luxury, perched upon the crystal Indian Ocean, teeming with marine life. “From the electricity, air conditioning and hot water, to run the entire property produces zero emissions,” says Samantha. “It truly is the ultimate in eco-luxury.”

Nikki Phillips and her partner lost track of time in the heavenly Maldives. From indulging in yoga on the beach to relaxing by their overwater plunge pool, Club Med Finolhu Villas was the ultimate getaway.

The couple savoured long dinners in their villa, designed by their own villa host and personal chef. Samantha agrees that local flavours and regional specialities were a 5 star gastronomic adventure. “Dining is done in an over-water restaurant,” she says. “The restaurant bar has a glass floor, so you can see the sea life beneath.”

An unforgettable family holiday

Tracey Spicer’s two young children found the ultimate tropical playground at Club Med Kani. The friendly G.O’s (specialized staff) introduced Tracey’s family to the wondrous oceanic world of the Maldives’ colourful marine life. Long days were spent carving up the surf and swimming with new friends from all over the world in the glittering pool.

Club Med’s all-inclusive package means the children could graze on delicious treats throughout the day. Family dinners were a highlight – a culinary feast of international dishes, designed to entice young palates and impress more mature ones.

Samantha, Nikki and Tracey created three very different holidays, each one a dream come true, all three summed up in one word: Happiness.
