Club Med to Open First Resort in the Seychelles

seychellesheader.jpg

Club Med is proud to announce its continued international expansion with the opening Club Med’s first resort in the Seychelles, due to open in 2020. This announcement follows recent news of three more new Club Med destinations– Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Canada/Québec, all to open within the next four years. The new 5 Trident Exclusive Collection Resort on Sainte-Anne Island in the Seychelles archipelago will be open all year round to offer families and active couples an exceptional destination at the heart of the Sainte-Anne Marine National Park.

Just 30 minutes from Mahé International Airport, the new resort will boast 295 rooms – from Club to Suite – and offer its family guests the full range of childcare facilities – from Petit Club (2 – 3 years old) to Junior’s Club (11 – 17 years old).

Seamlessly integrated into its natural environment between tropical gardens, the Indian Ocean and bordered by three white sandy beaches, Club Med Seychelles will offer couples and families an exceptional natural setting and a diverse palette of onshore and offshore sports, including diving, snorkelling, sailing, tennis, flying trapeze and archery.

On the announcement, Henri Giscard d'Estaing, President of Club Med says, “I’m particularly happy to see Club Med secure a base in the Seychelles, one of the three most luxurious destinations, alongside the Maldives and Mauritius. In association with New Mauritius Hotels, our prestigious partner and respected luxury hotel operator, we will be able to offer our guests a new premium destination that fulfils all their expectations from 2020 onwards.”

A major project for Club Med and the Seychelles

The opening of this future Club Med is an integral part of the group’s commitment to open three to five resorts worldwide every year between now and 2020.

For this new project, Club Med is working alongside NMH (New Mauritius Hotels), the largest and longest-established hotel group in Mauritius, where it operates all the Beachcomber hotels on the island.

Beachcomber Hotels also operates the Beachcomber Seychelles Sainte Anne Resort and Spa hotel, which currently has 87 rooms. Club Med’s proposal to take over the hotel under a new leasing arrangement with NMH will see the capacity of the hotel infrastructure significantly expanded.

The opening of the new Club Med Resort will represent a total investment of around €70 million (approximately $109,410,000AUD) for NMH – an investment that will boost its capacity to around 300 rooms, and make a valuable contribution to local economic development through the creation of several hundred direct jobs and an equal number of indirect jobs.

Interview: Samantha Wills' girls trip at the Zen Oasis of Club Med Punta Cana

Samantha-Wills-Header.jpg

Last July, jewellery creator Samantha Wills (@samanthawills), discovered the new Zen Oasis space of Club Med Punta Cana, alongside a fabulous turquoise lagoon in the Dominican Republic. We asked her some questions for a perfect relaxed girls' trip in Punta Cana.

Note: All images below are courtesy of Samantha Wills, and have been shared with permission.

What was it about Club Med Punta Cana that made you want to visit the resort?

Being based in NYC, the Caribbean is so close! I had never visited the Dominican republic before, and when I saw the Zen Oasis private beach, my ticket was booked!

What was your typical day in the Zen Oasis?

20180959_155214695049451_1461265775246442496_n.jpg

I would like to tell you I was up with the sun to join the 5:30am yoga class! But I don’t want to lie to you!

🍳🍊  About 9am, we would walk along the beach to the restaurant at the end of the property & get some fresh scrambled eggs prepared by the chef & freshly squeezed juice.

☕🌊 Grab a take away coffee to go and follow our footsteps back along the beach, to the private Zen Oasis beach beds. That is were you would find me most of the day. I loved the thatched umbrellas, and the beach team where never too far away with a cocktail or sparkling water! I packed my bag with a few good beach reads, so between those & ocean dips – it was the ultimate relaxation holiday!

🍤🍴 Lunch was always local seafood…and dinner we would go to the champagne bar, pop a bottle of our favorite bubbles (which grants you access to the private dining area!)  where the waves literally lap in underneath the deck. It was perfect.

🍸🎶 We stopped by the beach parties, and live music, but in the full relaxation mode we were in, we took our sun kissed bodies to bed before midnight each night.

It was definitely a holiday we returned from feeling refreshed & rejuvenated.

What was your highlight from the trip?

The Club Med Spa was INCREDIBLE. The massages transcended you to an out of body experience. Thatched huts with billowing white cheese cloth & just the sound of the ocean drifting thru. It was truly incredible.

What did you enjoy the most in the brand new Zen Oasis Space?

Access to the private beach. The gardens in the Zen Oasis where also really beautiful.

20347088_1815537268759319_990777255003160576_n.jpg

What is your top tip for a girls’ trip in Punta Cana?

I think its great, if some of your girlfriends have families with young kids. There is so much stuff for kids to do, but also very separate from the private adult areas of the resort.

While there is buffet style catering for lunch & dinner, you can also choose to eat a la carte, which means there is always on option, because with groups not everyone runs on the same schedule.

What are your must-dos for a holiday to Club Med Punta Cana?

The Champagne Bar is the perfect dinner (and lunch!) spot. The massage in the Club Med Spa is also a must do, (daily if you can!)

Which Club Med resort would you love to go to next?

Morocco looks incredible, but Finolhu in the Maldives will always have my heart!

Are you craving for a peaceful hideaway in Punta Cana like Samantha Willis? Book now to discover the new Zen Oasis space, exclusively for adults.

#MeetOurG.O.s – Stephanie, G.O. at Club Med Sanya

G.Oteam_.jpg

The heart of Club Med is in happiness, and part of that comes from the incredible people we bring together from around the world. The job of the G.O. was invented by Club Med 60 years ago, and it is still one of the best jobs in the world. G.Os travel around the world, meeting new people and injecting happiness into your holiday. They are, in short, what makes a Club Med holiday unforgettable. To get to know our Aussie G.O.s, we asked Stephanie, an Aussie working at Club Med Sanya, for the lowdown on being a G.O. at Club Med, as well as her insider tips for a holiday to Sanya.

#1: How long have you been a member of the Club Med family?

I’ve been a part of the Club Med family for 5 years!  I started my journey in Lindeman Island as Boutique G.O, then moved to Bali as Fitness G.O, Bintan Island as Fitness G.O, Guilin as Choreographer, Bali as Choreographer, Kani as Choreographer and now I feel so lucky to say I’m Animation Manager, here in beautiful Sanya.

IMG_1155.JPG

#2: What makes Club Med Sanya such a great place to holiday?

It's a perfect balance!  Club Med Sanya is a great place to welcome the whole family, as well as all couples and friends.  We have a really great range of activities, which can be done as a family.  So, during the day time you will feel a really positive happy family atmosphere.  Come night time though, it’s a completely different experience!  Our guests can come and watch our G.O Show, either in our Deer Bar Outdoor Theatre or our Ballroom Indoor Theatre, and after you will see the village come alive to party like crazy, with our super power G.O team...plus we are only one out of two resorts in China that has a beach!

IMG_1156.JPG

#3: What’s your one “insider’s tip” for someone visiting Club Med Sanya?

Make sure you go and visit our Discovery Centre, so you can explore the real Sanya.  I would absolutely recommend either the Side Car or Jeep Tour, to see some exquisite locations, exclusive to our excursions.  For a great day of family fun, the Romance Adventure Park is a must! It has everything, a Water Park, Frozen World and you cannot miss out on the Romance Show!  One of our most popular activities is our Biking Tour.  Make sure you get there early, as it will fill up!  You will go on a quick trip just outside the Resort and ride along the beautiful beach side.  After this activity, you will understand why they call Sanya “The Hawaii of China”.

#4: What is your favourite moment of the day?

Without a doubt sunset, around 5:30pm-6:00pm.  Either find yourself a seat at the Deer Bar and grab a cocktail with your friends or go straight down to the beach, sit right on the shore line and just watch the magic happen.

SAYC_C116_193.jpg

#5: What is your favourite way to spend a day off in China?

I love exploring new areas of Sanya that I have never found before. On my last day off, I discovered a new beach called Dadonghai, really clean and with that beautiful blue tropical surf.  Plus there are a whole bunch of western bars and really laid back sandwich/burger shacks along the beach - it’s a really laid back place! If you’re keen to try local Hainanese cuisine, there are some great seafood restaurants around, with the fresh catch of the day!  Dadonghai is around 40 minutes by Taxi from the Resort.

#6: What’s your favourite thing about working at Club Med?

Every day is completely different from the day before!  When I wake up in the morning I have no idea who I’ll meet on that day, what I’ll learn from them, all the different experiences we’ll share together, and the memories that I’ll never forget.  I think that's what makes me love it so much still – the mystery!  Also, you never know what’s just around the corner, which village you will be going to next, and what opportunities will come with it.   But always, it's the people.  We work so closely together, that we truly do become like family...a crazy dysfunctional family!

I’ve always said, the G.O’s in Club Med are like all the misfits of the world, thrown into one place!  Come and join the crazy family!

#MeetOurG.O.s – Adam, Bartender at Club Med La Plantation d'Albion

The heart of Club Med is in happiness, and part of that comes from the incredible people we bring together from around the world. The job of the G.O. was invented by Club Med 60 years ago, and it is still one of the best jobs in the world. G.Os travel around the world, meeting new people and injecting happiness into your holiday. They are, in short, what makes a Club Med holiday unforgettable. To get to know our Aussie G.O.s, we asked Adam, Australian Bartender at Club Med La Plantation d'Albion and Club Med Sahoro, for the lowdown on being a G.O. at Club Med, as well as his insider tips for a holiday to Mauritius.

#1: How long have you been a member of the Club Med family?

I have worked at Club Med for 2 Years so far.  I stayed one year in Bali followed by one year in La Plantation d'Albion, both resorts as bartender.  Note: Adam is currently finishing up the ski season in Sahoro as a bartender!

Club Med La Plantation d'Albion Bars

#2: What makes Club Med La Plantation d'Albion such a great place to holiday?

It’s a beautiful 5 Trident resort and the rooms are spacious and elegant.

There are 3 beaches set up with pool chairs and day beds for you to choose between, depending on if you want activities or a quiet day.  Having the two pools is great as if you’re with a family you can head to the main pool where you’ll get pulled into entertaining pool games.  If you’re a couple traveling and looking for somewhere to just relax in peace then head over to the Zen Pool which is stunning.

And as a foodie – the food is amazing!!  The village has a great ambience at all times of day and a great team working in it; you won’t be disappointed!

Club Med La Plantation d'Albion Pool

#3: What’s your one “insider’s tip” for someone visiting Club Med La Plantation d'Albion?

Book 10 days, a week simply isn’t enough.  You can easily entertain yourself in the resort for a week which means you’ll never make it outside to try some of the excursions around the island.  Don’t miss the Blue Bay excursion and if you’re travelling as a family, make sure at least you drop the kids into the Mini Club one day so you can enjoy the zen area.

#4: What is your favourite moment of the day?

My favourite moment is the sunset at the Bar Alouda and zen pool area.

Sunset at Club Med La Plantation d'Albion

#5: What is your favourite way to spend a day off in Mauritius?

My favourite way to spend a day off in Mauritius is to relax at the beach restaurants in the North with a cold beer. Just touring around with some of the locals you work with so you don’t miss anything is awesome!

#6: What’s your favourite thing about working at Club Med?

It’s almost like being adopted into different cultures as you travel around the world.  You have the opportunity to travel a lot and experience a lot of new things.  You meet some unique and amazing people, some that you’re working with and others that are just there for the week.  Club Med really is completely behind the work hard play hard mentality which makes for a good time everywhere you go!

Where has the year gone?! There are less than 9 Fridays to go until Christmas (bring it on!), and it’s the time of year when our minds start drifting to dreams of time away with the family or your loved ones. With the average cost of hotels skyrocketing to $500 per night, and Airbnb houses in Bondi reaching $1100 a night over this period, often it’s better to skip the domestic holidays and jetset off on an international adventure.

If you’re dreaming of a last-minute international adventure over the Christmas and New Year break, we’ve put together a list of holidays that are still available – and that won’t break the bank.

Meanwhile, avid golfers will be in heaven at Bintan Island, while yogis and health enthusiasts will fall in love with the beautiful beach, spa, fresh produce, and juice bar.

All You Need to Know About Holidays in Cancun

DSC6480-cop12y1.jpg

With its picture-perfect white-sand beaches, vibrant dining and nightlife scene, and proximity to fascinating cultural sites, Cancun is a delightful Mexican holiday destination.  Perhaps best-known for hosting spring break festivities, Cancun has much more to offer if you scratch the surface. Here's everything you need to know to plan your Cancun holiday…

Best time to go to Cancun

December-April are the peak months with clear skies and balmy temperatures, while May-August offers hotter temperatures and fewer crowds. If you're not a hard-partying student, it's best to avoid mid-March to early April – that's when spring break is in full swing.

How to get to Cancun

Cancun is around 20 hours flight time from Sydney. You can fly from all major airports in Australia to Los Angeles flying Virgin Australia, with connections to Cancun flying with either Virgin America or Delta Airlines.

Visas and Vaccinations

Australians don't require a visa for holidays to Cancun. However, if you are traveling via USA, you will need an ESTA visa. And while it's not required, it's recommended you check up on your shots: Tetanus and Diphtheria, Hepatitis A and B. It’s important to note that some Club Med Kids Clubs will ask for proof of immunisation for the little ones!

Your guide on what to do and see in Cancun

Explore ancient Mayan sites

  • A day-trip to Chichen Itza is a must-do when you visit Cancun. Amid the pyramids, arcades and columns of the ancient city, Chichen Itza's most notable landmark is El Castilo, a beautiful and imposing 355-step pyramid.

  • Tulum is another popular excursion from Cancun, with a spectacular location overlooking the Carribean Sea. The ancient walled city offers Mayan ruins set above a gorgeous beach.

  • El Ray is home to ancient stone structures and a population of friendly iguanas.

  • Coba is the only site where you can actually still climb the ruins and explore the area on a pushbike.

Discover the exotic Mexican wildlife

  • ☼ A half hour boat ride from Cancun, Isla Mujeres is a tropical island offering a low-key alternative to the mainland. The Isla Mujeres Turtle Farm, charged with repopulating the waters with turtle hatchlings, is a must-visit.

  • Holbox is a sleepy island north of Cancun home to a large population of whale sharks. Swimming with these gentle giants of the ocean is possible from June to August.

  • ☼ The Island of Contoy is a nature reserve home to coral reefs and amazing birdlife. The waters surrounding the island contain whale sharks, tropical fish and manta rays.

  • ☼ For a truly spectacular experience, swim in the natural holes and mysterious rivers of Cenotes.

CANC_K117_292.jpg

Have fun with various sports and activities

  • ✔️ With all that turquoise water, it's no surprise watersports are one of the main drawcards in Cancun. Think about choosing an all inclusive resort: Sailing, scuba-diving, and snorkeling are all available with Club Med, for example.

CANC_G114_034.jpg
  • ✔️ With their spectacular backdrops, the golf courses of Cancun lure players from all over the world. With courses designed by the likes of Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman, the challenging layouts are sure to delight.

A few tips in "Survival Spanish"

  • Good morning: Buenos días

  • Good afternoon: Buenas tardes

  • Good evening: Buenas noches

  • How are you? ¿Cómo estás?

  • I’m from Australia: Soy de Australia

  • Please: Por favor

  • Thank you: Gracias

A few more helpful tips

  • ✔️ Beware when walking through Cancun's narrow streets! Cars and motorcyles often pass very close to pedestrians.

  • ✔️ Tipping is customary in Cancun: 10-15% at restaurants and one or two dollars per suitcase carried. However, if you’re at Club Med don’t sweat it – everything is included!

The beauty of Cancun represents a once in a lifetime holiday destination. Whether for a honeymoon, a family holiday or an indulgent solo getaway, Cancun is Mexico's ultimate playground.

A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN

In winter we all crave those tropical escapes every year. Somewhere we can relax and take some time away from our hectic schedules whilst basking in the sunshine under those lush green swinging palm trees. But where to go, options are endless. Fiji, Noumea, Vanuatu, Miami, Bali all these places incredible and offer the above, however it’s hard to compete with the place that offers whiter-than-white powder sand and luminous cyan-blue water!

I first came to the Maldives with no idea how different it was to the rest of the world, it’s a place that draws in over a million people a year to it’s tiny, remote and otherwise little-known Indian Ocean paradise. I have fallen so madly in love with this place, it’s drawn me back three times now and as my trip comes to an end I can confidently say, I’ll be back for many years to come. Each time I have visited the Maldives, I’ve left with even greater memories of the islands paradise then before and not only is it because of the islands drop dead beauty, but due to the accommodations and experience we have endured while in this place that represents paradise.

Every resort in the Maldives is it’s own private island, and with over 100 to choose from the only problem is selecting where you want to stay. But let me solve that problem! Welcome to Club Med.

Club Med has two resorts on separate islands, located a short 30min boat ride from Male. Both offering separate options for that “ultimate holiday”.

Club Med Finolhu is Club Med’s luxury Maldives Resort. From a butler that caters discreetly to all your needs to a personal plunge pool and a staircase that descends straight into what feels like your own piece of ocean. Nestled in beautiful natural surroundings, the award-winning [Club Med] Finolhu Villas are an oasis of peace and privacy. I had the opportunity to stay here last year and it was magical ( Read all about it here ) Eager to see if it had changed within a year and eager to be apart of such a resort again we added on a few extra nights. Happy to report, it had changed… the garden’s greener and more mature, the villa’s even more incredible then I remembered and the food was first class along with the service. It truly is an exquisite place.

But I’m getting off track, so as I said earlier Club Med has two resorts in the Maldives, even though I could talk about Finolhu till the cows come home, let me introduce you to an equally fantastic, beautiful and magical place. Now if you’re looking for something that offers a luxury holiday but with different price points, so you can fit within your budget without maxing out the old trusty credit cards. If you enjoy a holiday with the options of constant daily activities and entertainment, then Club Med Kani is for you! Club Med Kani is the island over from Finolhu, only a five-minute speedboat. Club Med Kani offers a Kids Club also, so perfect for families wanting to enjoy a trip together while sneaking in some one on one time occasionally. There’s a good reason why the Club Med Kani Maldives Resort is known as Heaven on Earth. The pristine cyan-blue waters stretch out to the horizon, palm trees sway in the breeze, and there are so many fun ways to enjoy this idyllic scenery. Whether it’s snorkelling with colorful fish, paddling through crystal clear waters, diving, surfing this place offers some of the world’s finest breaks; every day will be a perfect day in the Maldives. Accommodation is also available in the 5 Trident Luxury Space Overwater Suites, for the ultimate indulgence – dive straight from your Suite into the ocean, or have the alpine sand at your doorstep. Life doesn’t get better than this! Oh but it does on this little island. Premium open bar set on the beach offering the most memorizing sunsets. Fresh all day dining that features local and international cuisines available from three restaurants.

Club med Kani offers the opportunity to divulge yourself into the holiday of your dreams for the perfect price, as it’s all-inclusive. Enjoy a holiday rid of stress, drink those cocktails, eat to your hearts content while not being worried of the end bill.

Some activities and the Club Med spa come at an extra cost, but that’s what spoiling yourself is all about, you're on holiday after all. I do recommend a one-hour Balinese massage, at the start of your trip, it left me feeling automatically relaxed, unwound and ready to enjoy my break in paradise.  It will be your match made in heaven just watch the video below to see what I mean.

✔️ To avoid getting sick on your holiday, make sure you always drink bottled water. Many hotels and resorts, like Club Med, will offer safe bottled drinking water in your room or at the bar. Also, don’t eat food cooked on the footpath.

✔️ Don’t be afraid to barter with your taxi or tuk tuk driver. Feel free to negotiate a price to avoid getting overcharged. Your driver will often wait for you at your destination, so make sure you decide on a return-trip price.

✔️ When visiting Buddhist temples, ditch the beach clothes and thongs, and opt for more modest clothing to respect local customs.

Eryn Krouse's Top Tips For A Holiday In The Maldives

coverkids.jpg

In August, model and surfing enthusiast Eryn Krouse (@erynkrouse) visited Club Med Kani with Reef Girls. We asked her some questions to get the best tips for a trip in the Maldives. Note: All images below are courtesy of Eryn Krouse and Chris Delorenzo, and have been shared with permission.

What are your must-haves when travelling to an island destination like Club Med Kani?

🏄 Surfboard: The Maldives is the prefect surfing holiday destination. There are amazing spots to surf empty waves.

🐠 Snorkel mask and fins: I have never seen a water that clear. The Indian Ocean is the paradise for tropical fishes and giant sting rays.

📷 Gopro and camera: Pictures and videos are the best souvenirs you can bring from the Maldives… It is the only way to remind you that it was not a dream!

☀ Sunscreen: With such tropical temperatures and sunny weather, I make sure to protect my skin.

👙 Swimsuits: Probably the most important part of my outfit at Club Med Kani. I could dive straight from my premium suite to the ocean!

👗 Summer clothe:Reef Girls sandals, a few pairs of shorts, tshirts and tank tops.

📖 Abook: I love reading a book in the plane, time goes so fast! So, all the time I saved looking for a flight (it's included with Club Med), I spent it looking for the perfect book.

What was your typical day in Club Med Kani?

Since I was pretty jetlagged, I'd be up from 3 or 4 am which I didn't mind too much. I'd take a relaxing bath while listening to music and watch the sunrise. I'd usually dive in with my snorkel gear and explore around before showering back in my room and walking over to the breakfast buffet with my photographer, Chris Delorenzo. We would spend some time in the buffet, eating the different cuisines and talked about what we wanted to do that day.

Usually it involved some fun adventure such as going on a seaplane and chartering a boat to go surf or dive somewhere. We spent most of the day roaming the beautiful resort and swimming in the ocean, and would stop our adventuring only to go to the buffets (which we enjoyed immensely).

What were your favourite surf breaks in the Maldives?

Picture EK 7.jpg

My favorite surf break was right outside the resort, a right breaking wave called Ninja. I didn't get to surf it as much as I wanted to because it involved a boat to get around the shallow reef, but the two times I did get to surf the spot were amazing. I had the waves to myself for about half an hour before some other surfers would join me in the line-up.

Absolutely nothing can beat surfing in the Maldives.

It's a perfect, glassy wave and the size of the wave was perfect for me... just a little over head high. It was amazing to take off a wave and see all the way to the bottom while surfing because the water was so clear. My homebreak is Malibu, CA which is probably one of the most crowded surf spots in the world, so it was such a treat to have a perfect wave to share with only a handful of friendly surfers.

What was your highlight from the trip?

Picture EK 4.jpg

The highlight of my trip was the day we chartered a boat to go explore the various islands outside of Club Med Kani. That day we swam with hundreds of dolphins, and even spotted a lone manta ray majestically floating close to the surface. The best part of this day, however was going to a dive spot right next to a tunafish factory where I swam with a whole school of gigantic sting rays.

Your recommendation for a bucket list to tick off in the Maldives?

✔️ Stay in an overwater bungalow

✔️ Ride in a seaplane

✔️ Explore the various dive spots and swim with dolphins, manta rays, and stingrays

✔️ Explore a local Maldivian village

See you soon for my next traveling adventure...

Best Places To Go For Easter Holidays

BlogHeroPicture6.jpg

Easter can be the perfect time to travel, both to get away from crowds and also get that last hit of sunshine before winter comes. As the weather warms up, it’s not just summer that has us all dreaming of holidays overseas. The Christmas break can be extremely busy for international travel, with thousands of holidaymakers trying to make the most of the holiday season. If you'd rather skip the crowds and rather plan ahead for your Easter holiday break, we’ve got some spots that are perfect for April!

Spring skiing in Europe

VTHC_K114_059.jpg

You’d be amazed at the quality of snow on offer on the European peaks over Easter! April is considered low season, so you’ll avoid the queues and have the pistes all to yourself. At Val Thorens, Europe’s highest ski resort, it still snows well into Easter week, and the ski season often lasts until May.

Alternatively, other ski fields that are perfect over Easter include Les Deux Alpes and Tignes Val Claret, where glaciers keep temperatures relatively low up in the mountain.

Temperatures are warmer in spring, so resist the urge to pack your earmuffs! With days sitting at above 10 degrees Celsius, you might even find it a bit warm on the mountain – especially if you’re working up a sweat. Don’t forget to bring your swimmers too: resorts like Club Med Peisey-Vallandry have outdoor heated pools that are perfect to soak up the spring sun.

Travel Tip: If you’re travelling to Europe to ski, make sure to make the most of it and transit through Paris or Rome. Flowers bloom across the gardens in Paris in springtime, while the masses gather in St Peter’s Square for Easter in Rome.

Head to Malaysia for Easter sunshine

Looking to get that last burst of sunshine before the winter? Malaysia is a great holiday destination – plus, it’s just an 8 hour flight away. Experience a cultural immersion in Kuala Lumpur with Malay, Chinese and Indian influences creating a bustling, vibrant city.

_DSC2469.jpg

For a break from the densely packed cities, don’t miss Cherating Beach’s secluded shores, surrounded by lush Malaysian jungle. April falls between monsoon seasons, so you’re sure to have clear skies and warm waters. If you’re an avid surfer, you’ll find great waves over the Easter period as well.

Travel Tip: One of the best way to make the most of the jungle experience in Cherating Beach over Easter break is to spend a few days at Club Med Cherating and embark with your kids and the specialized staff in a treasure hunt in the surroundings of the resort...

Discover ancient Mayan relics and sunshine in Mexico

CANC_E105_014.jpg

Home to pristine beaches and one of the world’s seven wonders, Cancun is an ideal holiday destination for Easter. It’s always sunny, and you’ll be able to visit the Mayan ruins of the Chichen Itza, as well as snorkel in beautiful clear oceans.

While April is the time for Spring Break, the Yucatan Peninsula (where Club Med Cancun is located) is secluded, so you can enjoy your beach in peace!  What’s more, some of Mexico’s best snorkelling lies in the warm waters just beyond the shores…

Discover paradise on Earth in the Maldives

KANV_L114_007.jpg

Let’s be honest: when isn’t it a good time to visit the Maldives? With unmistakable turquoise waters and magnificent white sands, it’s the ideal holiday destination. In April you can expect perfect bluebird days, where the warm waters see vibrant sea life to flock to the coral reefs. Easter is considered the best time for scuba diving, so take a dip with the reef sharks and manta rays!

A short and sweet escape to Singapore

Singapore is less than eight hours direct flight from Sydney, so it’s perfect for a short Easter break! In April you’ll avoid the monsoons and it’s (a little bit) less humid, making it the perfect conditions to spend a few days exploring Singapore. Enjoy a meal on the Marina Bay, watch the Singapore Open Badminton tournament, spend a day at Universal Studios, or head to the Singapore Zoo…kids and adults alike will love it!

_DSF1474_LR.jpg

Travel Tip: When you’re ready to hit the beach, skip Sentosa and take a short ferry to Bintan Island. Lie under the tropical sun by the warm waters of the South China Sea and relax…snorkel, swim, kayak, or practice your swing at the infamous Ria Bintan Golf Course.

🐇 Happy Easter Holiday! 🐣

All You Need to Know About a Holiday to Bali, Indonesia

BlogHeroPicturebali.jpg

Towering coconut palms and long, sandy beaches under the warm tropical sun… it’s no wonder Bali is one of Australia’s favourite holiday destinations. Bali has a rich cultural and spiritual history, with fragrant foods, temples and traditional festivals just waiting to be discovered.Sound like a dream? It definitely is. If you’re planning a holiday to Bali, here’s everything you need to know about this tropical paradise…

Best time to go to Bali

Depends on what you’re after! May – July are the peak months of dry season. If you’re a surfer, catch the best waves between April – October, and if you’re looking for culture, don’t miss the Nyepi Festival in March or the Galungan Festival in February.

How to get there

Bali is only a 6 hour flight from Sydney or a 4 hour flight from Perth. Virgin, Jetstar and Garuda all fly direct.

Visas and Vaccinations

We have some good news: Australian tourists no longer require a visa to visit Bali for less than 30 days. And while it’s not required, it’s recommended you check up on your shots: Tetnus and Diptheria, Hepatitis A and B. It’s important to note that some Club Med Kids Clubs will ask for proof of immunization for the little ones!

Your guide on what to do and see in Bali

One of the best things about a holiday to Bali is immersing yourself in the rich culture, and making the most of beautiful surroundings. From surfing the seas to savasana in yoga, we’ve got our top picks below.

A few more helpful tips before your trip to Bali…

  • Wild animals look cute, but be wary! Not only will wild monkeys try to steal your food, but they might get in to your luggage too. Keep a lookout for these little critters and take photos, but keep your distance.

  • Rainy season doesn’t mean constant downpours. While the weather is out of anyone’s control, often rain is limited to a few brief spells rather than a constant downpour.

  • Haggling is okay for products and services but save it for markets and stores. Most international resorts and hotels in Bali, including Club Med Bali, have fixed rates within the resort.
