I never, ever thought in my wildest dreams I would get the opportunity to visit this beautiful part of the world again. My husband and I were fortunate enough to travel to the Maldives last year (2014) for our honeymoon, But here we are again and completely pinching ourselves.
We flew Singapore airlines, Sydney to Singapore and then onto the Maldives.
A trip that took 14 hours including a 3 hours stopover. I say this because some people think that the Maldives is miles away, extremely hard to get to and airfares expensive, but it’s actually not and a ticket price tag is around a thousand dollars. On arrival into Male (The capital) it’s a short 20 – 30 min boat ride to Paradise, also know as Club Med Finolhu.
The moment you lay eyes on this piece of paradise you are completely overwhelmed and breathless.
How can something so beautiful exist. The bluest oceans, whitest sands and general perfection is truly breathtaking. As you pull up to the wharf you are greeted by the staff and the general manger offering welcome drinks and extremely large smiles.
Club Med Finolhu officially opened January 31st 2015 and is designed by world renewed architect Yugi Yamakazi and is the first 100% solar run resort in the Maldives. Yup that’s right, solar panels help electricity, air conditioning and hot water run the entire property.
Making it the ultimate in Eco-luxury resort. It has 52 villas on the entire Island, beach bungalows, sunset and sunrise over water bungalows.
Our villa was a sunset water bungalow and it didn’t disappoint as every morning we were greeted with the most epic sunrise. The beautiful flow of the villa brought the outside in, with doors and windows from the inside leading out onto the ocean. A generous sized living room, bedroom and bathroom and did I mention the outdoor bath!!!!!
